First Week Fiesta in Mexico

Hey everyone!

So. first things first, crazy story happened the first night here. The other hermanas in my zone have the bathroom that kind of connected to ours becasue they share the window so we're able to hear everything they say in the bathroom and vice versa. So, it was kind of late an we were trying to unpack, when all the sudden we hear on eof the hermanas scream 'Ayudame! Ayudame!' and there was this noise like a really loud shower had turned on. Turns out, one of the hermanas had pushed a suitcase underneath the counter to store it and it broke one of the plumbing tubes that lead to the sink and water was spraying everywhere out from underneath their sink! So, it's already pretty late at night and we were desperately trying to figure out what to do. There was no water shut off, we couldn't put the sink tube back on, and when we tried to call the reception desk the phone in our casa was broken. So, we were trying to mop it up with towels, actual mops, and we were pushing all the water into the shower with giant squeegees for like 40 minutes while the tres hermanas ran to reception and finally convinced someone that it wasn't just something we could tighten or screw in, it was broken. So, that's how we almost flooded out house on the first night. It was a great bonding expereience and it makes a great story.

Honestly, I love it here so much. I love my zone. There are 11 people in it. We have a trio of sisters and then me and my companion, Hermana Flinders, and then 3 companionships of elders. We're all from America, so its not too much culture shock really. But I am so glad to have the opportunity to come and live and teach these people her and to be able to share my testmony with those who havn't been able to learn yet. I love this gospel and I would not be out here or have lasted a week on my mission with out knowing that the things I am teaching and learning and learning to teach are true. I know Heavenly Father is aware of my needs and that He loves me very very much.

Con mi amor eterno,
Hermana Rawlings

P.S.
So, fun fact about my spanish. My companion and I are quite good relative to the rest of the class, because we have more experience. So, I took a test this week and if the teaching supervisors apporove, I might be transferred to a Latino distrrict my last three weeks here. I don't know if I'll be able to keep up with them or anything but I prayed about it and I felt like I needed to take that test, so we'll see what happens.

Burning Spiritually and Physically!

Didn't you just LOVE conference? I feel like I have gotten much more out of General Coonference here in my time as a missionary. It's literally such a highlight and a spiritual fest. I think my favorite talks were from Jeffrey R. Holland, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Russel M. Nelson, and actually, I can't choose, just all of them. I love what Elder Uchtdorf shared about how to share the gospel, step by step. I also love what was taught about the cvonnection between love and ministering, and I absolutely loved the emphasis on repentace and the Atoning power of Jesus Christ.  Thanks to the goodness of the Bishop, we actually had the opportunity to watch in English usign the computer in the Bishop's office and it was so great to hear the voices of the Apostles and The prophet. It's honestly just so much better when you can actually hear their voice with the intonation and all of that. An boy, was that fun. We might have taken over the office for a short while...
