April showers don't exist in Sonora

I'm honestly not sure what to even write in this email....

Hi everyone! Things in Sonora are going well - the work moves forward, we keep learning, and the people progress, little by little.

We've had a lot of progress with a lot of investigadors this week, and its been interesting for this past week to be more or less the senior companion as Hermana Cruz gets to know the investigadors and the area. I've been able to do a lot more than I thought I was able to, but it's also been very humbling as I've realized how far I have come and how far I still need to go to be the missionary I want to be and the person I want to be. But that's okay. 2 Corinthians 6:12 is our scripture of the month in April and roughly translated into Englihs for those who don't want to open their scriptures, it says "you are only limited by your heart." which is very much true and has brought a little more meaning to just how much we can accomplish and change.

One of the investigadors whose making the most progress is Brenda. She's dead set on being baptized and serving a mission after and its been crazy to watch as she keeps every commitment we give her to the point where she came to conference after being in the hospital until 4 in the morning the night before. The spirit has been so strong during the lessons with her and its been really interesting as well to watch it influence all of her family.

There are so many people here who are so prepared and so ready fo rthe gospel and its always so much fun to watch all that starts to happen as the little seed of faith starts to take root in their heart.

Also, kind of a fuuny story to tell this week - we were in Obregon for P-day becasue we had activities and whatnot and that's where our stake center is. So, Hermana Cruz and I were walking along casually and these two police men pull over on their motorcycles in front of us and I thought okay, they're either going to talk to us or they're taking a break for second in the shade. Yeah, it was the first option. And so one fo the police officers looks at me and says, "how many months have you been in Mexico?" and I thought, "okay that's cool their going to ask for my papers." and I alwasy have copies of them with me because well, we're supposed to have the copis with us at all times in case a police officer skas how many months you've been in Mexico. So of course, I started shruggign off my backpack to take my papers out when the police officer introduces himself, shakes my hand and then using said hand pulls me over to where the other police officer is. And the other poliec officer asks me the same thing about how long I've been in Mexico and where I'm from and why I am so far away from home. And so I go to pull out my papers again when the second police officer looks at me, looks at Hermana Cruz, looks back at me, goes "you have really pretty eyes. Have you already eaten?" and at this point, I realized that they did not actually want to see my identifcation, they wanted me to hop onto their motorcycles and ride off into the blazing Sonora sun whcih obviously was not going to happen. So we very politely told them no, pointed vaguely in one directio and said, oh no sorry vaguely motion in a direction and told them we were going over there. And the second they were out of sight, Hermana Cruz and I burst out laughing because both of thought they were going to ask to see my papers and everything, but no, they just wanted to flirt. We had agood laugh about that one.

Con mi amor eterno, Hermana Rawlings

Burning Spiritually and Physically!

Didn't you just LOVE conference? I feel like I have gotten much more out of General Coonference here in my time as a missionary. It's literally such a highlight and a spiritual fest. I think my favorite talks were from Jeffrey R. Holland, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Russel M. Nelson, and actually, I can't choose, just all of them. I love what Elder Uchtdorf shared about how to share the gospel, step by step. I also love what was taught about the cvonnection between love and ministering, and I absolutely loved the emphasis on repentace and the Atoning power of Jesus Christ.  Thanks to the goodness of the Bishop, we actually had the opportunity to watch in English usign the computer in the Bishop's office and it was so great to hear the voices of the Apostles and The prophet. It's honestly just so much better when you can actually hear their voice with the intonation and all of that. An boy, was that fun. We might have taken over the office for a short while...
