New companion

Hey y'all!

So, once again cambios have come and another another six weeks has gone. How crazy to think of how fast the time is flying by, and I'm sure it's not planning on slowing down any second.
Well, after six months being the ray of sunshine that she is here in Esperanza, Hermana Rubio was finally tranferred. The good news is that she's actually serving in my zone still so I get to see her every week at district meeting. My new companion is Hermana Cruz from Veracruz. She's super sweet, likes sports and eating, and is a good missionary, so I think we're going to get along splendidly.

This week was awesome. It was Semana Santa, which is the week before Easter and so pretty much everyone leaves to go on vacation because it's basically a country wide spring break. Unfortunately, this means that no is in their houses and a bunch of our investigators left town, but it was super awesome becaseu whenver there are difficulties, there are miracles.

We were walking along the road to get to an investigator's house, and we decided to take a different route than usual, and as we were walking, we passed a house and obeyed a very subtle I-thought-it-was-my-own-thought-but-it-definitely-wan't type prompting from the spirit to talk to the woman outside. She was relatively disinterested, but she let us sit outside her house and sing a hymn and she thought she would just get a hymn but no, sorry with missionaries there also comes a message. As we were starting to share the message, an inactive member walked up to the house, sat down with us, and started talking to us. The important part, is that she brought her neice with her, who is relatively new to the area. Turns out, Brenda, her neice, had listened to missionaries before and was reading the Book of Mormon for about 3 months before she moved, but becasue of soem things that happened, wasn't able to be baptized. Basically, she's awesome. Miracles that only the Lord can bring.

Also, General Conference was epic. Thankfully, I was actually able to listen in English for which I was exceptionally grateful and just let me tell you, that was absolutely epic! Like, dang son, how powerful was this past conference. We have a new prophet who can recieve revelation for all and the entire conference was a testament to that. I also loved the talks given about love and about personal revelation, because really we know, through this message of the restoration, that the heavens aren't closed and that we can really recieve knowledge from God and He will not leave us alone to fend for ourselves. We have a prophet and church leaders to guide us in the ways that we can help ourselves grow spiritually, because if we don't grow spiritually we will never be able to withstand the pressures of these last days.

I also love the new focus on ministering and love for all, because the entire time I was listening to these talks, there were examples of times people have ministered to me and my family flashing through my mind and there are so many people and I don't know is I can thank them enough or if they know how much some small acts made an impact on my life. But there can always be so many more because more than anything, one of our baptsimal covenants and part of taking upon ourselves the name of Christ is mourning with those that mourn and comforting those that stand in need of comfort. And the young women get to light the way becasue they have already been doing this for years and how awesome is it to have even more opportunities to serve nad become more Christ like.

No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care. We cannot help otheres unless we are showing genuine love for them, and no one is exempt from this or the messages of General Conference. I've been thinking a lot about how well I have lived the guidance that the prophets in these latter'days have given me and I definitely know I can do better. So I'm going to keep moving, keep repenting, and keep trying because I need to help others recieve all the blessigns that I have recieved in my own life. And I know I can do this through the the Gospel of Jesus Christ and through his Atoning and Redeeming sacrafice for me.

Con mi amor eterno,
Hermana Rawlings

Burning Spiritually and Physically!

Didn't you just LOVE conference? I feel like I have gotten much more out of General Coonference here in my time as a missionary. It's literally such a highlight and a spiritual fest. I think my favorite talks were from Jeffrey R. Holland, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Russel M. Nelson, and actually, I can't choose, just all of them. I love what Elder Uchtdorf shared about how to share the gospel, step by step. I also love what was taught about the cvonnection between love and ministering, and I absolutely loved the emphasis on repentace and the Atoning power of Jesus Christ.  Thanks to the goodness of the Bishop, we actually had the opportunity to watch in English usign the computer in the Bishop's office and it was so great to hear the voices of the Apostles and The prophet. It's honestly just so much better when you can actually hear their voice with the intonation and all of that. An boy, was that fun. We might have taken over the office for a short while...
