Hi Everyone! This week we were priviledged to see so many miracles. So many I can't tell them all, but the biggest miracle of all was the baptism of the Valenzuela Family! This past Sunday, President Myers and Hermana Myers came with us to meet the family and so President could do the baptismal interview, and while they were with us, President Myers gave them two amzing promises. The first was that if Jesus read the Book of Mormon, he would learn how to read and write and the second promise was that before his baptismal, Jesus would have use of his hand again. Several tendons got cut in an accident with a machete as of six or so months and because of the severe damage, it was unusable. Now, I use the word was because when we visited them onTuesday, Hno Jesus greeted us with a gigantic smile and and said, "Look!" and then moved his fingers. By the time he was baptized, he was able to (a little bit gingerly) shake people's hands! And every single day it gets better. I don't think I have ever seen a miracle so powerful and obviously a miracle. When he showed us, Hna Vasquez started to cry and I started to laugh because both of us were so happy we honestly didn't know how to react and because President had given him the promise during his baptismal interview, neither of us knew that this had been promised to him.Thursday was the baptism of Trini, Jesus, and Jesuscito. Despite all the running around, and all the obstacles that came in our way (like two punctures bike tires and all the bike shops in Huatabampo randomly closed), somehow everything was ready in time for the baptism. And it was absolutely beautiful service and the spirit was so strong that there were tears all around as we watched this family take upon themselves the name of Christ and leave the waters of baptism completely and utterly clean. And then on Sunday they were the first ones up to bear their testimonies and testify of this gospel, the true gospel of Christ, and the only thing truly powerful enough to chnage lives the way it had changed theirs.3 Nephi 12:1-2 says, "Blessed are ye if ye shall give heed unto the words of these twelve whom I have chosen from among you to minister unto you, and to be your servants; and unto them I have given power that they may baptize you with water; and after that ye are baptized with water, behold, I will baptize you with fire and with the Holy Ghost; therefore blessed are ye if ye shall believe in me and be baptized, after that ye have seen me and know that I am.And again, more blessed are they who shall believe in your words because that ye shall testify that ye have seen me, and that ye know that I am. Yea, blessed are they who shall believe in your words, and come down into the depths of humility and be baptized, for they shall be visited with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and shall receive a remission of their sins."How mcuh greater promises can we ask for?I testify that this is the true church of Jesus Christ and the only church on the face of the Earth that has the true authority to baptize in the name of Jesus Christ, baptisms that don't just count here in this mortal existance, but count towards eternity.Con mi amor eterno,Hermana Rawlings
Didn't you just LOVE conference? I feel like I have gotten much more out of General Coonference here in my time as a missionary. It's literally such a highlight and a spiritual fest. I think my favorite talks were from Jeffrey R. Holland, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Russel M. Nelson, and actually, I can't choose, just all of them. I love what Elder Uchtdorf shared about how to share the gospel, step by step. I also love what was taught about the cvonnection between love and ministering, and I absolutely loved the emphasis on repentace and the Atoning power of Jesus Christ. Thanks to the goodness of the Bishop, we actually had the opportunity to watch in English usign the computer in the Bishop's office and it was so great to hear the voices of the Apostles and The prophet. It's honestly just so much better when you can actually hear their voice with the intonation and all of that. An boy, was that fun. We might have taken over the office for a short while...
