We could have used an ark

Welcome to Sonora (aka the Desert) where it doens't rain. Becasue of this the there's not an infrastructure of drains in the streets or places for the run off water to go, therefore when a tropical storm hits, such as this past week, you feel a little bit like you're living in the time of Noah.

It was absolutely crazy!! We were tryign to go out a work but there were streets we were riding down where the water was reaching up to the middle of the bike tires. And we were sooaaaaaked. Just soaked to the bones, despite rain boots and jackets and whatever other protection we were trying to use. In fact, when we were goign to the memeber's house to eat,I had on my rain boots but they had been filling up with water because the water was so deep our feet would go under while pedaling. When we got there, I took them off a turned them upside down and it was like in the movies, where an unbelieavble amount of water come rushing out. Hahaha. It was all good in the end, although it did mess up how effectively we coud work for several days.

Speaking of Noah actually, I've been trying to finish reading Jesus the Christ this part week, and recently read the chapter that discusses the work among the dead, wehre In 1 Peter chapter 3 it talks about how the people at the time of Noah, who all dies in the world wide flood would be able to hear the word of God and I've been thinking a lot lately about how wonderful it is to know about the Plan of Salvation. To know that God is both Merciful and Just, and that He has created the most perfect plan that could ever be created specifically for us. In the spirit world, those who have not had the opportunity to hear the Gospel of Christ, they too ave the opportunity to know the plan God hs prepared and the way to return back to Him, and how marvellous it is to know that Christ, in between the tiem of His cruxifiction and resurrection, organized the mssionary work in the Spirit world, so that there are missionaries working beyond the veil. I very mcuh think, that if I have such the opportunity, I would like to missionary in the Spirit World when I finally leave this mortal existance.

I love this Gospel and I love my Heavely Father. I kow He loves me. I know He is aware of me nd my every need and I know that the church is true, the only ture church of Jesus Christ on te fce of the Eartch, and the ony with a}the knowlesge and the authority to enact the ordinaces necessary to live with out Heaveling Father again.

Con mi amor eterno,
Hermana Rawlings

Burning Spiritually and Physically!

Didn't you just LOVE conference? I feel like I have gotten much more out of General Coonference here in my time as a missionary. It's literally such a highlight and a spiritual fest. I think my favorite talks were from Jeffrey R. Holland, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Russel M. Nelson, and actually, I can't choose, just all of them. I love what Elder Uchtdorf shared about how to share the gospel, step by step. I also love what was taught about the cvonnection between love and ministering, and I absolutely loved the emphasis on repentace and the Atoning power of Jesus Christ.  Thanks to the goodness of the Bishop, we actually had the opportunity to watch in English usign the computer in the Bishop's office and it was so great to hear the voices of the Apostles and The prophet. It's honestly just so much better when you can actually hear their voice with the intonation and all of that. An boy, was that fun. We might have taken over the office for a short while...
