Happy birthday to me

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I honestly can't believe I'm twenty. Its so weird to think about and I feel slightly old... But yeah, I'm twenty everyone. I spent my birthday well I promise. With only a few days before they despsited the mensualidad, our companionship was broke, but my companion surprised m with a birthdday mango instead of a cake and then made me pancakes. They surprised me with cake and a few presents in the comida and then later at night, one of the sweet sisters in the ward invited us to helados, which are more or less popsicles, as we were passing by on our bikes, and as we conversed, it slipped out that it was my birthday and hermana Emma snapped into mothering mode. She fed us dinner and brought out a few pan dulces that we put a candle in and told us all about how her son, who is serving a mission right now, is doing. It was honestly a really good day.

Today for district activity, there are actually three of us who had birthdays wthis past week so we had cake and played cards for a bit and the elders finally got to shove my face in a cake becasue hey this is Mexico! I'll send you the videos if I can.

We've stuggled a bit these past few weeks to help people see the value and importance of coming to church, but we've seen a few miracles this week. One of them happened with Marisol, the little sister of Mia, our recent convert. She has some difficulties in understanding, or may maybe better said is we've had some difficulties teaching her and to her understadning, but after explaining to her the importance of reading the Book of Mormon and how this would help her to understand, she bagan to red every night. She is now at least in 1 Nefi 8 and has also begun to reread the pamphlets we have given her and she is begining to understand. I am so happy to see her progress because I am far from giving up on her yet.

The Book of Mormon brings a power and strangth in our lives that cannot come but from God. It is literally his word, and every single page testifies that there is a Christ, that He lives, that He loves us, and that He came to Earth to redeem us and will come again in a time that is close at hand. Through readign the Book of Mormon, we cna feel the love that God has for us and we will understand and comprehend our purpose here ni life. to read the Book of Mormon is to invite God into your life and more than that, to invite His miracles into you life. If you are not readign every single day, please start. It will bless and change your life in wys you cannot imagine and you will have a stronger testimony of Chirst and His divine misssion.

I love you all!!

con mi amor eterno,
Hermana Rawlings

Burning Spiritually and Physically!

Didn't you just LOVE conference? I feel like I have gotten much more out of General Coonference here in my time as a missionary. It's literally such a highlight and a spiritual fest. I think my favorite talks were from Jeffrey R. Holland, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Russel M. Nelson, and actually, I can't choose, just all of them. I love what Elder Uchtdorf shared about how to share the gospel, step by step. I also love what was taught about the cvonnection between love and ministering, and I absolutely loved the emphasis on repentace and the Atoning power of Jesus Christ.  Thanks to the goodness of the Bishop, we actually had the opportunity to watch in English usign the computer in the Bishop's office and it was so great to hear the voices of the Apostles and The prophet. It's honestly just so much better when you can actually hear their voice with the intonation and all of that. An boy, was that fun. We might have taken over the office for a short while...
