The work in Huatabampo continues

The work in Huatabampo continues as always and this week we put our focus on trying to help all of the Lord's children come back home. I've really seen this week how wonderful is the knowledge of the plan of Salvation that we have throught the book of mormon and modern day revelation.

Do you guys remeber Juan, the young adult who we contacted becasue he and I have the same backpack? He's very interested in the church, but his mom, the few tmes we have talked to her, has not been interested at all. This past week, we passed by to confirm an appointment and althoguh he wasn't there, we had the opportunity to speka to his mother, Tomasa, again. AS we spoke to her, she told us that her parents had both died more than 15 years ago adn the spirit guided the conversation to the question of "where are your parents right now?". We had the grand priviledge to testify that God is a merciful God who gives us more than one chance to repent and to teach about the Spirit World and what happens in between physicla death and the time of resurection. WE watch as she began to open up to us and as the spirit began to touvh her heart and we were able to teach her about the kingdoms of glory.

I  have realized this week how unique is the knowledge that we have about the Spirit workd and the Kigdoms of Glory, it's somethign that becasue I was raised in the church I have always had the chance and blessing to know, but it doesn't mean that its somethign commonplace. It's somethign beautiful and perfect because the PLan of Salvation is beautiful and perfect. I am so grateful that I understnad why I am here and what I am workign towards in this life and I pray every day to have the desire to share my blessings and my testimony with the world.

On a signifigantly less spiritual note, I had the worst experience of my mission this past Friday. Worse than the time a false prophet tried to commadn me to repent and worship him and then more or less "cursed" us when we didn't (He doesn't have the priesthood keys nor authority rom God to do so nothign happened but it wasn't the most enjoyable experience...) So frst you have to understnad that theres a iron fence in front of our apartment with a tiny pati where we put the bicis and then ya know the door to the house. We got hom efriday nght and put the bicis inside and noticed that there was a scorpion about two feet from the door on the wall of our house. After freakign out slightly, we killed it and then thoght, okay obviosuly its time to spray more insecticide in the house. Everythgin was fin until we spray insecticide in the drain in the washign sink that's in the back of the house nad heard a "shshshshshs" noise. And I thought, what the heck is that, and looked and a as I lookd, fro mthis drain a bucket load of cockraches cam erunning out! Adn so we screamed and started panicking and well, about 30 minutes later we had kile most? a lot? all? of them - 12 in total!! We found out that they're also chilling behind the kitchen cabinets because there's a hole in the wal lthat we had never noticed before where the kitchen sink pipes also go into this drain. Yeah, so we are curently changign apartments and if I never see another cochroach in my life I will be a very happy person.

Com mi amor eterno,
Hermana Rawlings

Burning Spiritually and Physically!

Didn't you just LOVE conference? I feel like I have gotten much more out of General Coonference here in my time as a missionary. It's literally such a highlight and a spiritual fest. I think my favorite talks were from Jeffrey R. Holland, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Russel M. Nelson, and actually, I can't choose, just all of them. I love what Elder Uchtdorf shared about how to share the gospel, step by step. I also love what was taught about the cvonnection between love and ministering, and I absolutely loved the emphasis on repentace and the Atoning power of Jesus Christ.  Thanks to the goodness of the Bishop, we actually had the opportunity to watch in English usign the computer in the Bishop's office and it was so great to hear the voices of the Apostles and The prophet. It's honestly just so much better when you can actually hear their voice with the intonation and all of that. An boy, was that fun. We might have taken over the office for a short while...
