So, this week has been fun.
First off, we were able to see a huge miracle this week - la
Hermana Cuca descended into the waters of baptism! She's a sweet old lady who's
friends with a member, and we've ben working with her for quite some time nad
she's had thte desire to be baptized since basically the first week we tuaght
her, ther's just been one problem this entire time. SHe has alzhiemer's, and
she would forget every lesson her desire to follow Jesus Christ which has been
a very iinterestign lesson in patience and Christ like love as we would teach
her the way we would teach a smal child and then repeat the lesson the next
visit. But every single thign we explained to her she accpeted and had the
desire to learn and we couldn't just leav her alone becasuse lthough right now
sh'es in this emntal state, she has other past sins and she needed baptism, so
we talked to our leaders, talked to President, consulted with the Lord and
finally came up with a game plan. In the baptismal inteview, the Elder was goign
to teach everythgin, then ask the intervire question right after, then teach
the next thign and ask the question and so on and so forth, and it
worked.
the funniest part was probably the day of her baptism,
because we got to her house nad brought her breakfast and helped her pick out
clothes, and she asked us what the occasion was and we said "it's your
baptism!" and she goes "oh, yes? yes, yes, yes..... MY baptism?"
and then got a little smile on her face and since her baptism was scheduled for
right after church, she had already forgotten again, so she got changed and
just kind of rolled with it again nad it ttok a few tries, but she finally got
baptized and it was really neat.
Con mi amor eterno,
hermana Rawlings
