Come Follow Me

As I have been studying Come, Follow Me these past weeks, I have definitely developed a love for the new program and also for the New Testament. It has been absolutely amazing beign able to more fullt apply the Savior's teachings in my life, and in particular this past week, I loved the part of the Bienadventuradaa and especially the distinction of poor in spirit as opposed to poor of spirit. As I was studying this past week I finalyl came to understadn that poor in spirit doesn't mean of weak faith, it means being humble. Those who are spiritually humble, who turst in the Lord and go about doing things quietly. I have developed a great love for those kind of peopel throughout the course of my mission. For example, there's a Sister here in Pueblitos who quietyl struggled for four years to be baptized because her husband did not permit her to attend church, not to mention talk to the missionaries. So she just quietly endured and kept at it until he let her go, but oly her, not her kids, and then she was able to get baptized, but she still wasn't able to take her kids to church. After a year or so of beign member, her kids were finally permitted to come to church and then be baptized. And now, she is a quiet giant in the ward. She has quietly befriended the new people, brought her freidns to church, and taught her chhildren the gospel. Honeslty, they are one fo my favorite familes and her threee sons are actually hilarious.

(Another example is you mom. Youhave alwasy set the example of just goign out and doiung and doing it quietly and without afan which has been a huge example to me.)

I've been doing a lot of refelactign lately on who I am and how I have changed, and what changes I still have to make, and I have come to realize exactly how much the Lord has changed  and shaped me, not just in my attitude, but also in my nature itself. Adn it's been amazign to watch, because I've coem to realize that that is wht being meek and humble is all about, it's about lettign the Lord shape and bless and mold you. ALl of this is possible thanks tot he Lord Jesus Christ and how He paid the price not jsut for our sins, but also our weaknesses, afflciiones and sicknesses. Through Him, we have the opportunity to change and become better peopel, and that would not be possible with his Infinite Atoning Sacrafice.

I love oyu all and I love my Savior,
Con mi amor eterno,
Hermana Rawlings

Burning Spiritually and Physically!

Didn't you just LOVE conference? I feel like I have gotten much more out of General Coonference here in my time as a missionary. It's literally such a highlight and a spiritual fest. I think my favorite talks were from Jeffrey R. Holland, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Russel M. Nelson, and actually, I can't choose, just all of them. I love what Elder Uchtdorf shared about how to share the gospel, step by step. I also love what was taught about the cvonnection between love and ministering, and I absolutely loved the emphasis on repentace and the Atoning power of Jesus Christ.  Thanks to the goodness of the Bishop, we actually had the opportunity to watch in English usign the computer in the Bishop's office and it was so great to hear the voices of the Apostles and The prophet. It's honestly just so much better when you can actually hear their voice with the intonation and all of that. An boy, was that fun. We might have taken over the office for a short while...
