okay, let's see if i cna type out this story.
As far as we knew, Hermana Lewis was not allergic to
anything. WE literally had a conversation the day before talking about
allergies and how she wasn't allergic to anything which I thought was crazy
blessed. Turns out, she's allergic to SOMETHING.
It was a normal day, we ate at our lunch appointment, super
normal and typical food, but about an hour later, we teaching a recent convert,
and the sister turned to my companion and goes, Äre you okay?" and I
turned to my companion and she was RED, and just did not look good. So, she
excused herselft to the bathroom, I gathered up the thigns because I wasn't
exacty sure what was goign on or if we were goign to end the leson or anythgn,
but I just felt tlike it wasn't goign to happen. My companion lef thte bathroom
like two minutes later and was puffy, and the siter offered to take us to
doctor and we gratefully accepted. We got in the car, the car stalled pulling
out of the street, but continued on right after like a champ, and as we had
been gettign in the car, my companion started having difficulty breathing and
was layign back i nthe car and I could hear her laboring breath as I
despereately called the mission president's wife, and then the mission
president himself when his wife's liine was occupied. He told us to go the
hospital where our insurance covers, I lloked back at my comp and remember
thignking, she will die before we make it there, which was a super scary
thought.
INstead, we got to a small clinic, a Similares, adn they
have a consultign service there, so I was helpong my comoanion out of the car
and the sister ran in and informed the doctor that we coming and that it was an
EMERGENCY. They let us through, we got her leyign down on the bed plank thign
they haave in doctors offices, and they instantly put an IV and medication in
her. In about ten minutes, her breathing was a lot more stable, but she was
still super out of it. The sister who was with us asked if I had called,
"los muchachos"(the Elders) and I told her no, and made the call and
it went a little bit like this- "Hi Elders, how are you? (We're good, and
you?) We're not. Can you come to the similares because we need you." I
actually had no idea where exactly we were so I passed the phone off the sister
so that she culd explain a little better because I WAS NOT going to leave my
companion's side.
When thye got there, my companion was stabalizing, but a
reactionary fever had kicked in in full force, and she had begun to shake with
chills, but super vilionetly and uncontrollably. They quickly explained that
they had been with a member sitser, about to share a spiritual thought when
they had gotten the call, and that htis genrous sister had given them a ride to
where we were and that's how they had arived so fast. They put their hands upon
her hand, I had a hand on her leg and was holding her hand and as they
pronunced the words of the blessing and righteously exercisd their preisthood
authority, I was prayign very ferverntly for divine help. They said, Amen, and
beneath my hand, her body instantly stopped shaking. The fever had left. She
settled down, she was able to be stable enough to take her to the hospital. We
were broke, because it was the end of our biweekly deposit cycle, and because
we had doen some kind of fun things for the siters in our zone, and we didn't
have the money to pay for a taxi. It was actualy a miracle because, I had my
personal card on me which I literally never carry with me, and had been able to
pay the medical expenses in the small clinic. We called a memebr, and it was a
horribel time of the day to try to find to find a ride, but on ethe mebers sent
and paid for an uber for us to take us to the hospital.
We got to the hospital, and they rsuhed to emergencies, adn
the first doctor just basiaclly gave her a breahtign treatment for her still
swollenish throat, and gave her soem more IV solution, but the secodn doctor
who came (as we got there right as they were changin shifts) sent for studies
to be done and found out she had some crazy levels of white blood cells and a
few other weird things, so we stayed thre for a while whiel they ran the tests
and tok some XRays and gave her a breatign treatment, and well, we ended up
stayign the night in the hospital. THey finally realeased her Friday in the
afternoon.
And that's the story of how my comapnion almost died and how
the Priesthood Authroty of God is a real and true power that brigns miracles
into our lives when we act with faith.
Con mi amor eterno,
Hermana Rawlings
