I love this work

This week has been awesome! Isabel and Jesus are so awesome - so open and so ready for this. They have such an amazing spirit about them and I absolutely love every time we get to teach them. Partially becasue whatever lesson we had thought to teach or to give pretty much automatically goes out the window and whatever ends up beign said is so much better than whatever we had planned. Which is almost how its supposed to be, when you keep in mind that these are people with experiences and concerns and its not about making sure they have all the lessons and have a baptismal date and you teach everything in order and exactly as you practiced. The Lord expects you to be prepared, and for that reason you make a lesson plan, but when you focus on what the person is saying to you its so much better. We don't baptize investigadors, we just help people who are converted unto Christ to come unto Him. You have to help people build a connection to Heaven first, and thank you Elder Gerring ...

First week in Esperanza

HEY! So, this first week in Esperanza has been amazing!  My Zone is just the Esperanza companions so we run into everyone a lot since we share most of the area of the Esperanza Barrio. There's three main places- Esperanza, Alemeda, and Villa Bonita.  Most of our investigadors are in Esperenanza but we have a few in Alemeda and some awesome references we're going to visit this week in Villa Bonita. I'm so excited and just absolutely loving it here. I have also found out that- no surprise really- I love love love contacting! It's so awesome to just talk to people especially about Jesus Christ. The people here are also really open so that's awesome.  We have two investidagors this week I'm super excited about. One of them is named Maria. We met her while we were lost while trying to find the house where we were going to eat for lunch, and well, my sense of direction is awful and Hermana Rubio didn't know the member who we were eating with...

I'm in Obregon

Hey everyone! So, the last week at the MTC was crazy but good. I would send pictures this week, but I managed to forget my camera in our house and so that's not happeninig this week, sorry. Next week.  I'm alive and safe in Cuidad Obregón. It's gorgeous here bt definitely hot, and despite what Jenson thought, it's so dry. But they have some really cool and advanced wasy they farm and irrigate her so that's really awesome.  My new area is called Esperanza. There are three sets of missionaries in this ward at the moment, two sets of Elders and then my new companion and I. President Myers said it was an area with a lot of growth, and well, it does have three sets of missionaries so I would really hope so.  My companion's name is Hermana Rubio. She's from El Salvador and she's really awesome, ridiculously sweet, and we get along really well together. I think she's just one of those people who radiates happiness. That's honestly what...

Last Week in the CCM (MTC)

Happy New Year! It's a new year! Man, 2017 feels like it flew by so I'm sure 2018 will feel the same. New Year's here was pretty tame, went to bed at 10:30 after a great devotional and woke up at 6:15 the next morning. Well, technically the alarm went off at 6:15 (because that's when the other companionship of sister's gets up and mine is the only alarm clock we have) but I'm not going to lie I didn't actually get out of bed until like 6:25. Still obedient, I just enjoy my ten minutes extra of laying on my bed and waking up slowly. Sounds like y'all had a blast though! For me, the emphasis of this week has been setting goals and then, more than just setting them, planning how I'm going to fulfill them. And that's been a great thing to learn because although I've always had high expectations of myself (and in that sense had goals) the planning how to accomplish them has never really been my strong suit. And part of that was ...

Christmas in the Mexico MTC

Merry Christmas Everyone! Christmas in the CCM was really interesting, not going to lie. We had piñatas on Christmas Day and I learned the piñata song that is sung during the piñata bashing, which is quite fun might I add. We also had two devotionals and a Christmas program on Sunday, another three devotionals on Christmas and the regular Tuesday night devotional, so all in all it's been quite the few days for devotionals. Not that I'm complaining though, the devotionals were super epic.  I also had a few really cool experiences this week. So, to start this off I'm going to admit straight out of the gate that this past week has seen the hardest I've had so far. I'm sure I'll have harder, but so far this has been the hardest just trying to adjust to the new district and everything. And this really wasn't an easy decision to make to switch districts, and I made the decision based on the faith that I could rely on Christ and He would help me because ...
