First Transfer

So, I'm going to start off by admitting that I forgot the word transfer in English for about five minutes until I was typing this out and then I remebered so Feliz Primer Cambios Y'all! Hermana Rubio and I are still rocking it in Esperanza. The work goes on here in Esperanza and I can't thank the Lord enough to let me be a representative of His Son and to be allowed to have this opportunity to get to know these people here in Mexico.  This week, Hermana Rubio and I decided to take the goal and theme for this year in our mission more to heart and "Forget yourself and look at the future with faith and hope." And these past few days have been amazing.  To start off, Hermana Isabel has accepted another baptismal date for this coming Saturday, which was amazing becasue we were only really able to teach her once this week because Hermana Rubio has been sick and the only time we taught her was more or less a lesson disguised as a Family Home Evening le...

Baptism this week

So, super awesome story this week about baptism and how Satan is actually a huge jerk. So, last week I told y'all that Isabel couldn't be baptized yet because she hadn't attended church enough and she wasn't quite ready. Well, that conversation happened on Sunday night, and we didn't see Isabel or Jesus until Tuesday becasue of P-day. Tuesday, we went to see them and give Jesus an English class, whcih is basically just half an hour where all he can speak is english because he kows a lot of the rules and words, he just needs to practice speaking. So, of course, becasue we're missionaries and we're vaguely devious, we always use this time to ask him how he's feeling about things and see how his testimony is improving. All in english of course, because this is an english class, but because it's an english class given by missionaries, we use as way to follow up on his commitments.  But this English class was weird and he was just a little bit...

Great week in the mission field

Hey Everyone! GOOD NEWS! Jesus is going to be baptized this Saturday! We're very excited for this and he is so prepared and so ready. And I can't wait to see all the blessings that will come flooding in and the way his life continues to change and be better after he recieves the gift of the Holy Ghost.  Not as good news! Isabel isn't. She was sick this past week and couldn't attend church, and so she doesn't have the attendences necessary to be baptized and also she's doesn't feel ready yet to be baptized becasue she hasn't been to church, so her baptismal date has been moved. We're going to try for next week, but we'll see. It depends on when she feels ready. She'll be baptized, it's just a matter of exactly what week at this point, But that's okay. I'm loving watching the way her life and her outlook on things has changed and when she feels ready, and maybe after watching Jesus be baptized she'll feel more ready, ...

When we are specific in our prayers

Buenos Dias! All is well in the Esperanza Barrio: the work is progressing, the sun is shining, and the Lord still works in mysterious ways that are awesome. I'm trying to even remember what happened this week.  Jesus and Isabel are doing great, Jesus in particular. He picks up on everything we teach so quickly and then always wants more. Isabel was sick this Sunday, so she wasn't able to come to church, but Jesus came and all the lessona and talks were about temples and the imortance of family history. And of course, we hadn't taught him what a temple is and it's role in the Plan of Salvation so yesterday we spent almost two hours with him as he asked question after question. None of it was bad, they were all very logical questions to have after listening to all the lessons and talks. It was interesting though because usually we teach the plan of Salvation very simply and broadly and we don't usually cover every single point of doctrine becasue it...
