Boxes of tender mercies

Fun story this week about how awesome the Lord is and another about how important it is to be worthy as a missionary and a representative of the Lord. Fun story first. So, we have had two box on the floor of our living room for, well, as long as I've been in this apartment and as long as Hermana Rubio has been in this apartment and therefore, at least 6 months and who knows how much longer. And these boxes has been chilling next to the broken fridge for all this time and we have never really paid much attention to them until last Saturday or Sunday. This is because we started doing our exercise in the living room because it has the most space, and we put our tiny portable DVD player on these boxes to see it better so we can watch our zumba/salsa/crazy cardio video. Well, we had never opened the boxes and we has already de-junked and organized the rest of the random things and boxes in our apartment, so Hermana Rubio decided to see what was in the box. It was a box full of copie...

The Gospel is a treasure

Well, this week was a really good week. And I'm trying to remember what all even happend this week, but I just remember it was a good week. This week to be honest was a testimony of how we, as members of the Church of Jesus Chrost of Latter-day Saints, need to be aware of what a great treasure we have in our lives. People who really want this will sacrafice everythign to brign their lives into alignment with the priciples ofthe Gospel. They will do everything in their power, give up anything, make any kind of sacrafice to follow Christ and to partake in the ordinances that will let them have Celestial life. The Elders ihn our ward are teachign the wife of a recent convert, who before her husband's baptism couldn't attend church and didn0t really want to listen to the missionaries, but after seeing the change that really takes place when we repent and come unto Christ, the change that this gorspel brings people, she quit her job so that she could start coming to chur...

The Blessings that Await

This week has been the hardest week in the mission so far, but it has built my testimony so much of how the Lord always blesses us through and after our trials, if we endure them well.  A lot of things contibuted to why this week was so hard - and its not really important why it was a hard week because this email isn't that kind of letter. This email, and what I want to share with y'all this week is how the Lord always makes up for whatever kind of trials we face, we just have to carry on through them while keeping our faith and our hope centered on the Lord. We can't give in, we can't just quit and walk away - we have to stand our ground, hold onto the rock of our testimony, and dare Satan to try to shake us from our foundation. It is our job to chase away the darkness from our lives and that means continously renewing reinvigorating our light and our testimonies. The little things we do each day are the things that will matter in the end - praying with real in...

Firm in the Faith

This week was a week of new beginnings and renewals. New transfer, new goals, and a renewed desire to be better and serve with all of our heart, might, mind, and strength. This week in particular, I have been reminded time and time again of the truth of the song Firm in the Faith. "Firm in the faith that our paretns have charished, true to the truth for which martyrs have perished.. faithful and true we will ever stand."  I have been learning a lot this past week about how great my heritage is. I have been blessed with a family that is predominantly members of the church, and I have been blessed to have ancestors that were among the first members fo the church after it was restored to this Earth, who joined the church in those first early years and then trekked to join the other Saints and were among the Pioneers. Others of my ancestors have been pioneers in their own family and their stories are equally as marvellous, but I am ashamed to admit that I did not apprec...
