Latino District Awaits

Hola everyone!  So, since the first week at the MTC for my new district, no one has P-day, they gave us three hours this morning to have just enough time to pack, do laundry, clean the apartment before we move out, to join my new district and then email.  Considering we had P-day all of basically three days ago, I don't have much to report on, but I have learned some really cool things this week.  I've been reading through the Book of Mormon on Sundays. Just general reading and studying since the rest of the week I'm focused on studying so I can teach our investigators better so therefore, I appointed Sunday study to be the day when I just read for the sake of reading and learning. And I've been reading through 3 Nephi this week and just remembering how amazing of a book it is because out of all the people and prophets and stories in the book, we often forget that Christ is the most important person that we can read about in the Book of Mormon. So, I wa...

Lean on Me and you will be okay

Hola! It's finally P-day! P-day was Friday this week because those going to Mexico on their missions had to go to the Mexican Consulate and get our immigration visas.  Also, I heard it snowed in Georgia! That´s crazy!! All the same, it's actually ridiculously cold here as well. There´s no heat or AC in any of the buildings on campus, and it is surprisingly cold every day. We can see our breath walking to class in the morning. So, I´m currently really, really grateful for the long PJ/workout pants I got right before leaving, because I currently wear like 5 layers of clothing to bed and have 5 layers of blankets. In the picture, I'm wearing my pants, both sleep dresses, then one of cardigans, then a giant tee shirt Delta gave me when they lost my luggage (which has since been found, it actually was shipped here the next day. Sorry I forgot to include that in my last email).  Last week our district had the opportunity to attend the Mexico City Temple and ...

First Week Fiesta in Mexico

Hey everyone! So. first things first, crazy story happened the first night here. The other hermanas in my zone have the bathroom that kind of connected to ours becasue they share the window so we're able to hear everything they say in the bathroom and vice versa. So, it was kind of late an we were trying to unpack, when all the sudden we hear on eof the hermanas scream 'Ayudame! Ayudame!' and there was this noise like a really loud shower had turned on. Turns out, one of the hermanas had pushed a suitcase underneath the counter to store it and it broke one of the plumbing tubes that lead to the sink and water was spraying everywhere out from underneath their sink! So, it's already pretty late at night and we were desperately trying to figure out what to do. There was no water shut off, we couldn't put the sink tube back on, and when we tried to call the reception desk the phone in our casa was broken. So, we were trying to mop it up with towels, actual mops,...

Safe and Sound

Hi everyone,  I am happy to report that despite a few bumps in the road, I'm safe and sound in the MTC.  My P-Day is Wednesday, but this counts as my email for this week, so you won't be hearing from me until next week. So, funny story, my plane was super late getting into the gate and I happened to be the only missionary on the flight surprisingly. Then it took an hour and a half or so to get through customs, so by the time i got to the baggage claim I couldn't see any of the other missionaries who had been {way} ahead of me in line. Then, when I got to baggage claim, there was a very nice Delta employee waiting to tell me that my large suitcase was left in Atlanta, so I had to fill out a report for that, and well, one thing lead to another and I could not find anyone who was supposed to pick me up at the airport. So, I was lost and alone in a foreign airport and had to call and ask where someone was. And that's why I'm writing so late. Sorry for worrying y...
