Huatabampo is amazing

Hi Y'all! So, to answer your questions about Huatabampo. Yes, I am still in Sonora, just slightly more south and slightly (very slightly) less hot. It's a branch, but not a small one, Huatabampo is kind of a smallish city or a slightly large pueblo and then there's also the other pueblitos around it that are part of our area nad pretty much all of it is bikable - there's only a few pueblitos that we have to take a bus to reach. The members here are lovely, delightful human beings and are super awesome nad the church building is two stories which is cool. To answer your questions about my bike. It is slightly too big for me - I have to stand on my tiptoes to touch the ground when I'm on the seat but it's a good bike. It's a really pretty deep jade color which, well, we all know I love that type of color and am therefore in love with my bike. It was slightly rough the first day or two biking, especially since my bike had a loose back tire and gear s...

Transferred to Huatabampo

Well, Transfers happened and unfortunately I couldn't stay in Esperanza for my entire misión. I am now serving in a branch called Huatabampo. It's about half an hour outside Navajoa and I'm still goign to working undernarth the Sonoran Sun. My companion's name is Hermana Vasquez. She is from Panama and is awesome nd we get to ride bikes together into the sunset but only until 9:30. And as is my luck with new transfers I already have a story to share. Turns out, the door knob to the bathroom to the house here in Huatabampo is vaguely broken. Now this usually isn't a problem because the door sticks and you have to shut it hard and in the right way to get it to close all the way and so this is not a problem for most people. However, I am not most people so literally about five minutes after I had gooten my suitcases through the door, I accidentally shut the bathroom door all the way and in thee process aidentally shut and basically locked myself in the bathroom. I am grateful to be part of this work

Hi All, This week was the baptism of the daughter of the less active woman we have been teaching and she was finally able to be baptized!! She's been waiting for this for almost two months and finally this past Friday was able to be baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesús Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The look on her face when she came out of the wáter made everything and all the complications with thte baptism completely worth it. She was beaming and her smile was so bright that I just couldn't help but feel the love that God has for her. Unfortunately, I can't send you any photos because we had to go to a different cyber today it has erased them... yeah.  This week we also had a super powerful lesson with Sheyla. We were sitting outside her house starting the lesson when a funeral procession passed by and she told us, understadably slightly distraught, that it was potentialy one of her relatives. The spirit prompted us very strongy to talk about ...

It is all worth it

You know when you're outside on a really cold day and the air is so cold that your face hurts? I didn't know this, but the opposite can also happen. This week, to my surprise, I learned that here in Sonora, it is possible to step outside and have your face hurt because the air is so dang hot. Not the sun necesairly, but the air. It burns your face and your lungs, you can feel how hot the pavement is underneath your shoes, and all the mosquitos are starting to die off. But all of that is so worth it because you get to teach and talk to and have such great experiences with so many of God's children and it's actualy the best thing ever. We're still working with Brenda and we were able to teach her and her siblings the plan of Salvation this week. One of her sister asked us why we had to forget that we had lived with God before we were born here because it would so much easier if we were born into these bodies we have knowing exactly why we chose to come down to...
